Keep in mind that having a furry friend is a lifetime commitment with a span of 10-15 years. So be sure to read below to make sure that you are ready for that commitment.
Before adopting a furry member, take your time in making a decision. There are lots of furry friends in shelters and rescue centers that are waiting for their forever home – make sure that you are fully prepared and ask yourself the below questions to see if you are prepared!
Now if you’ve read the checklist and is 100% sure that you are ready to adopt, here are some things to check:
1. Community/Accommodation Check – first of all, check your tenancy contract to see if you are allowed to have a pet in your home. This is very important as you can’t just bring a pet home and then be told off by your building/community management that it’s not allowed.
2. Connect with rescue groups – there’s a lot of rescue groups in the UAE that you can reach out to, they have certain sets of the adoption process and requirements to follow and they will help you find the perfect match for you/your family. Find a full list of shelters/rescue groups here.
3. Attend adoption days or visit the shelters to get to see the lovely souls that are looking for their forever home. Stay updated with weekly adoption events here.
4. If you are now matched up with the perfect member for your home, fill up the forms, submit requirements and pay the adoptions fees.
5. Once all the formalities are done, you can now bring home your new furry member.
Before you go home with your new furry member have their basic needs covered – beds, crate, bowls, leash, collar, and of course food to make them comfortable and at ease that they now have a home, they can call their own. We have listed down all the pet stores in UAE
It is important to do your research and make sure you’re ready to adopt. Don’t just get a pet if you are not ready for it as they are living creatures too that need care, time, and affection.
