Dogs are susceptible to many diseases and can get them from other dogs, people, or other animals. Vaccines can protect your dog from diseases like rabies, parvo, and distemper. In this blog we talk about what to expect when you have an appointment to get your dog vaccinated in Dubai
Dogs can receive their first vaccinations at 8-10 weeks and the second course 4 weeks later. If a mother has not been vaccinated before and the child needs to be vaccinated at 6 weeks of age, they will receive three types of vaccination at the following schedules: 6 weeks old, 9 weeks old, and 12 weeks old. This leads to a total of three vaccinations.
In the UAE pets are required to do annual vaccinations, be microchipped, and registered in Dubai Municipality.

Dhppi/L and Rabies for dogs
There are many different kinds of vaccines. The most common way to administer a vaccine is through a needle injection.
The rabies vaccine protects your pet against the rabies virus. The recommended time to get your puppy vaccinated is at four-six months. Your veterinarian will give you this vaccine if you haven’t already had one. It’s important that you follow up in the coming year for a second round of vaccines, as well as to be on the alert for symptoms of the virus.
Nobivac DHPPi provides immunisation of dogs against canine distemper, hepatitis (canine adenovirus), canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza. When the vaccine is applied to an animal, the antigen in the vaccine causes a large number of protection mechanisms. Annual health checks are recommended to stay healthy.
If you’re not sure about the vaccines your dog has received in the past, bring present records so that a veterinarian can determine what next steps are due.
It is important to have all paperwork available for your dogs – most rescue organizations and shelters will also provide information they had at the time of rescue.
After your pet receives a vaccine appointment, make sure you check for adverse reactions. These symptoms usually happen the first 24 hours after getting the vaccine. If your dog is experiencing the symptoms, reach out to your veterinarian or take it to the nearest clinic. Some of the most severe reactions are hives and swelling of the face.
Preventative care is the best care. Preventing diseases in our pets and promoting longevity starts with yearly examinations and vaccinations. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask your vet. They’ll be happy to provide information on preventive vaccines.
