Koko’s story of being rescued from abuse and finding a new life of love and kindness is being published by Austin Macauley Publishers and written by Amirah William.
The story of Koko, who was shot, beaten, had her eye gouged out, and dumped, has been widely followed since her rescue by the Stray Dogs Center team.
Now, Koko is living a fairytale life as she has been adopted by HH Sheikha Latifa bint Rashed Al Maktoum. Despite her injuries, which included trauma to her thoracic vertebrae, paralysis, and a punctured lung,
Koko has recovered after a seven-hour surgery with the skilled hands of Dr. Ruben at the Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre. Her injuries have caused paralysis and a punctured lung.
Koko wasn’t hit by a car. She was shot (not by pellets but with a bullet), beaten, her eye gouged out and dumped. We can now conclude that her perpetrator dumped her for dead. Said Stray Dogs Center.
Stray Dogs Center
Stray Dogs Center reported every abuse case, including Koko’s, with evidence to MOCCAE, who then forwards the case to the appropriate authorities.
Although an investigation has been opened based on the evidence presented, the abuse claim cannot be proven without direct evidence such as CCTV footage or witnesses.
Her injuries have caused paralysis and a punctured lung…She needed an urgent CT scan to assess the damage to her spine. Koko was transported to Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre for an urgent CT scan.
Koko has pulled through the long, seven hour surgery. We cannot express how grateful we are for the magic hands of Dr. Ruben, The Veterinary Hospital in performing such a delicate surgery
Stray Dogs Center
Koko’s transformation from a fearful dog to a happy, teddy bear-like companion is a testament to the kindness and compassion shown by all who supported her journey.
Thank you to all who have supported and continue to support our Koko baby Including the Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre, Vets24, and HH Sheikha Latifa bint Rashed Al Maktoum, who supported Koko throughout her recovery and gave her the strength to trust again.
In the words of HH Sheikha Latifa bint Rashed Al Maktoum, “I am so in love with Koko.” The emotional journey of Koko and HH Sheikha Latifa bint Rashed Al Maktoum is truly heartwarming.
We would also love to thank Stray Dogs Center team for all the effort they do to help stray dogs have a better life. The center has been through a lot and would need some help from all the pet community in UAE. Check out their social media and website on some of the ways you can support them.
