RAKAWC’s TNR & Cat Wellness Program: Helping Stray Cats in Ras Al Khaimah

Since 2010, Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre (RAKAWC) has been dedicated to controlling the stray cat population through its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, sterilizing up to 30 cats daily. In 2021, the initiative expanded with the Cat Wellness Program, focusing on improving cat welfare in hotels, communities, and private properties.

How the Program Helps

TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return): A humane approach to managing stray cat populations.
Rabies Vaccination: Ensuring safety for both cats and the community.
Microchipping: Helping track and identify stray cats.
Feeding Stations: Establishing safe areas where cats receive regular food.

Why TNR is Effective

TNR prevents overpopulation while improving the health and behavior of stray cats. Sterilized cats are generally healthier, calmer, and less territorial, leading to a more harmonious coexistence with residents. Unlike removal, which only invites new cats to take over the space, TNR keeps a balanced population in place.

Who Can Benefit?

RAKAWC provides this service to hotels, residential communities, businesses, and factories. Locations like Al Hamra Village and several five-star hotels in Ras Al Khaimah are already working alongside RAKAWC to ensure proper care for stray cats.

This initiative promotes a safer, healthier environment for both animals and people. Want to support the cause? Reach out to [email protected] and be part of the solution!
