New Pet Registration Requirement for Abu Dhabi Residents

Starting February 3, 2025, pet owners in Abu Dhabi will be required to register their microchipped cats and dogs under a newly introduced Animal Ownership System. This initiative, announced by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), aims to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of pets while fostering responsible ownership practices.

Who Needs to Register?

• Individual Pet Owners: You have a one-year grace period to register your pets without facing penalties.
• Establishments Owning Pets: Registration must be completed within six months of the program’s launch.

How to Register

• Location: Visit your nearest veterinary clinic to complete the registration process.
• Cost: Registration is free until further notice, making it an ideal time to ensure your pet’s details are up to date.
• Platform: The service will be available through the TAMM portal starting February 3, 2025.
