Exciting News for Snub Nosed Pet Owners: Emirates SkyCargo Lifts Ban with New Guidelines

We’ve got some pawsitive news for you regarding recent developments at the IPATA conference. Emirates SkyCargo, the air freight carrier, announced a decision that will warm the hearts of snub nosed pet owners.

They are lifting the ban on transporting these adorable flat-faced companions, albeit for a trial period during the winter season from November 1, 2023, to April 1, 2024.

The decision to open the skies for snub-nosed pets has garnered overwhelming support from industry experts. At the core of this change is the commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of your beloved furry friends during their journeys.

Effective November 1, 2023, Emirates SkyCargo’s new policy allows for the transportation of snub-nosed pets with a strong focus on their comfort and safety. So, if you’re planning to fly with your snub-nosed companion during this trial period

Key requirements you need to be aware of:

Fit to Fly Certificate:

As a responsible pet owner, you’ll need to provide a “Fit to Fly Certificate” issued by your appointed veterinarian. This certificate will be in conjunction with the IPATA checklist specifically designed for snub-nosed breeds.

IPATA Fit to Fly Snub-Nosed Checklist:

The completion of the snub-nosed checklist is mandatory, following IPATA standards. You can also find this checklist on the IPATA website for reference.

Minimum Crate Size:

Snub-nosed pets must be transported in a crate that is at least twice the size of what is typically required for non-snub-nosed breeds. This ensures their comfort during the journey.

Single Sector Uplift:

Please note that snub-nosed pets will only be accepted for single sector uplift.

A380 Aircraft:

Snub-nosed pets will be limited exclusively to A380 aircraft for their safety and comfort.

Restricted Departure Times:

For departures from Dubai (DXB), there are specific time restrictions. No departures are permitted between 09:00-18:00hrs.

Uplift Dates:

This policy change applies to pet flights between November 1, 2023, and April 1, 2024.

Cats Allowed:

Cats are permitted to be transported on both daytime and nighttime departures, providing options for their well-being.

Age Restriction:

Emirates will follow age restrictions as per their internal guidelines.

Snub-Nose Specific Indemnity & Waiver Letter:

Pet owners will be required to sign a snub-nose specific indemnity waiver letter to ensure transparency and compliance with the new guidelines.

Emirates SkyCargo is confident that these policy changes will bring more families and their cherished pets closer, all while ensuring the utmost care, safety, and well-being of your furry friends during their travels.
