A Group Raising Awareness on Alzheimer’s Disease By Singing For Shelter Animals

A group of seniors (60+ years old and above) in the UAE is raising awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease and also singing for shelter animals!

The most common symptom of Alzheimer’s disease is forgetfulness. People with Alzheimer’s may also have problems with language, calculation skills, or following instructions. They may experience confusion about the date or time, or get lost in their own home.

About 4get-me-not

It was in 2013 when 4get-me-not, the only Social Enterprise on Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), was opened in United Arab Emirates and the Middle East. The founder of the company is Desirée Vlekken – wherein they wanted to create a social platform for families and caregivers of AD patients, mainly seniors – aged 60 and above.

4get-me-not creates awareness of the importance of quality of life, especially for seniors. By fighting against a disease like Alzheimer’s Disease, you can help those living with the disorder.

AD is a global health issue that affects one in three seniors. 4get-me-not has been working with the Alzheimer’s Society and the World Health Organization to create a community to address this issue in a new way.

What is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects mainly the elderly. It is characterized by memory loss, confusion, and difficulty speaking. It is the second most common cause of death after heart disease.
