Pawrents Guide: Keep your Home Dog Hair-free

Grooming your pet regularly is a great way to keep them healthy and happy. It also helps keep the house clean and smelling fresh and free of dog hair.

Having a furrbaby at home can sometimes be annoying, especially once you see pet hair everywhere – couch, floors, sheets and even on your clothes! We have some tips and tricks on how to keep your home fur-free.

Groom your Pets Regularly

There are many different ways to groom your pet. You can brush them, bathe them, clip their nails, or trim their hair. You should groom your pet at least once a week or more if necessary.

The best time to groom your pet is when they are calm and relaxed. This will make the process easier for both of you.

How to get rid of dog hair at home

1- Robot Vacuum

Say hello to your new best friend! You can keep the robot vacuum on and work its way to picking up all the fur on the floor – it can also be programmed to run at certain times of the day so you don’t have to manually turn it on.

2- Air Purifier

Air purifiers are a great way to ensure that your home is free of allergens – like dust and pet dander.

3- Furniture Cover

Keep your couch or furniture protected with a washable cover to keep furr off, and the plus side is you can easily clean it – just take the cover off and throw it in the laundry.

4- Wipe Surfaces with a Dryer Sheet

These home staples are super helpful for lifting dust, pet dander and hair off most surfaces as well as blinds.

5- Lint Roller / Duct Tape

The handy lint roller and duct tape is always pet parents’ staple to easily remove pet hair from almost anything – clothes, furniture and whatever you can think of.

Home Cleaning to Keep Pet Hair Away

1- Vacuum

The first step in keeping pet hair away is to vacuum often. This will remove any loose hairs that may have accumulated on the floor or furniture. You should also use a lint roller or sticky tape to pick up any hairs that are stuck on clothes or other surfaces in your home.

2- Dusting

This helps pick up pet hair that you won’t easily notice – dust your coffee tables, TV stands, shelves, book shelves, and countertops.

3- Mopping

Sometimes after doing a vacuum, there’s still some furr that you might miss and this is why mopping after is a trick to pick up as much pet hair as possible.

Active and Healthy Pets for Less Shedding

  1. Keeping pets active and healthy is a great way to reduce shedding. Pets that are not getting enough exercise will shed more because they are stressed and your house will be full of dog hair.
  2. Exercise is important for all pets, but it is especially important for dogs. Dogs need to be walked at least twice a day, and they should also be given toys or other things to play with in order to keep them active. Cats should also be given toys, but they don’t need as much exercise because they are more independent than dogs.
  3. Dogs can get dirty and smelly very quickly, so it is important to groom them regularly. Grooming your pet will help keep them clean and smelling fresh. It will also help you bond with your pet and make them feel more comfortable around you.
