A Pet Owner Warns of Potential Dog Thieves at JVC Dog Park

Attention PETWITHIT community, we have been receiving reports on potential dog thieves at JVC Dog Park. While these reports have yet to be officially confirmed, the increasing concern between pet owners is something we believe you should be aware of.

According to a post from a pet owner in a dog group on Facebook, there have been multiple incidents involving suspicious individuals hanging around the JVC dog park in District 13.

These individuals seem to be targeting smaller dogs, with one alarming account describing a woman who was followed by a man dressed as a construction worker. The man reportedly followed her and even attempting to grab her dog before she managed to escape.

The same pet owner shared that her friend had also been followed by two men on consecutive days. There are further claims that stolen dogs are being sold at the Sharjah dog market for AED 8,000 to AED 10,000. In addition to these specific incidents, another suspicious person has been noted by several people—a man often seen standing outside the park, wearing a cap and smoking, while watching the area closely.

The reported vehicles associated with these incidents are a silver car and a white car, although their connection to any criminal activity has not been established.

Our Advice to the PETWITHIT Community:

  • Stay Vigilant: Whether you’re walking your dog yourself, or if you have a nanny, dog walker, or children walking your pet, it’s crucial to stay alert. Keep your dog on a leash and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • Be Cautious of Strangers: If you notice anyone acting suspiciously, such as following you or observing your dog intently, consider leaving the area and reporting the incident to the authorities.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you experience or witness anything out of the ordinary, report it to Dubai Police immediately.
  • Spread the Word: Share this information with fellow pet owners in the area to ensure everyone is aware and can take the necessary precautions.

While these reports are based on anecdotal evidence from concerned pet owners, and have not been confirmed by the authorities, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Let’s keep our furry friends safe and ensure our community stays informed.
