Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is proud to announce Ripple, an energetic five-month-old husky, as the new Chief Pawsitivity Officer (CPO).
Ripple’s story is one of hope and resilience—abandoned as a newborn, she was rescued and nurtured back to health at the Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre (RAKAWC). Today, Ripple is a symbol of the joy that a second chance can bring, with her striking cream and black fur and boundless energy.
Ripple’s appointment comes as RAKTDA and RAKAWC gear up for International Homeless Animals Day on August 17. This partnership is part of a broader mission to shine a light on the harsh reality of pet homelessness. Globally, 143 million dogs live on the streets, with 12 million more in shelters. The statistics are equally concerning for cats, with 203 million roaming the streets and 4 million residing in shelters.
These heartbreaking numbers underscore the importance of adoption, which can truly change a life—just like it did for Coco. Coco, a spirited dog who was returned to the shelter three times and nearly faced euthanasia, found her forever home at RAKAWC in 2018. Since then, she has brought her new family endless joy, a few chewed-up shoes, and a love that has made every day brighter.
RAKTDA and RAKAWC’s collaboration aims to ensure more cats and dogs like Coco and Ripple find loving homes. As International Homeless Animals Day approaches, the community is encouraged to open their hearts and homes to these deserving animals.
To support this important cause or learn more about adoption opportunities, please contact RAKAWC at +971 56 357 6013. Together, we can make a difference and give these animals the chance at a better life they deserve. Let’s all Pause for Paws!
