Tragic Accident: Donkey Rescued After Severe Car Collision

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a donkey struck by a car was recently rescued and brought to Stray Dogs Center. Unfortunately, the updates on the donkey’s condition are not promising.

The collision inflicted significant injuries on the donkey, including broken back legs and a lockjaw. Despite being under treatment and kept as comfortable as possible, the severity of the injuries remains a cause for deep concern.

After careful consideration and an examination by the shelter’s veterinarian, a decision has been made to continue the donkey’s treatment for the next 12 hours. This period will be crucial in determining the next steps for the injured animal.

Lockjaw, often caused by tetanus, is a serious condition. Stray Dogs Center is providing supportive treatment, which includes tetanus toxoid, thorough wound cleaning, manuka honey, broad-spectrum antibiotics, anti-inflammatory pain relief, muscle relaxants, and IV fluids. These measures are showing some positive signs, offering a glimmer of hope.

The next 12 hours will be critical in assessing the donkey’s response to the treatment. Nemo, as the donkey is affectionately known, remains comfortable, pain-free, and is receiving an abundance of love and attention from the shelter staff.

The community waits anxiously for further updates, hoping for the best for Nemo in this challenging time.
