Al Mayya K9 Assists a Compassionate Caretaker of 50 Cats in Sharjah

Al Mayya K9 Adoptions, primarily known for their work with dogs, has expanded their support this year due to an increasing number of requests to surrender cats.

One such case involves a compassionate lady from Sharjah, who found herself caring for nearly 50 cats. What began with just three unspayed cats quickly spiraled into a much larger population, leading her to seek help.

In a recent Q&A with Al Mayya K9, the lady shared her journey. Initially, she started feeding a few cats, but they soon gave birth, and their kittens, along with other cats from the area, began gathering at her home for food.

Before long, the number of cats became overwhelming, and managing them while maintaining a clean and healthy environment became increasingly difficult. She described how the cats started giving birth within her villa’s compound, making it hard to maintain hygiene and care for the growing population.

Realizing the situation was beyond her control, she turned to social media and found Al Mayya K9 through Instagram. After learning about their work, she reached out, hoping they could help manage the number of cats in her care.

Al Mayya K9 proposed a plan to control the cat population by offering free spay and neuter services. So far, seven adult females have been spayed, significantly reducing the number of new kittens. They are now focusing on spaying the young adult females who are mature enough for breeding.

In addition to neutering the cats, Al Mayya K9 provided veterinary care, ensuring the cats were safely returned in good health. The lady expressed her gratitude, saying, “The support we received from the team is appreciated. We don’t have to worry anymore about the cats giving birth often and the growing population.”

Although the rehoming process for the kittens has yet to begin, the team plans to promote their adoption in the near future, which will not only help find loving homes for the cats but also raise awareness about responsible pet ownership.

The lady acknowledged the importance of reaching out for help, stating, “It’s very important to maintain the population of cats and get them neutered or spayed—not just for us but also for the cats, as giving birth often worsens their health.”

Through this partnership, Al Mayya K9 has demonstrated its commitment to the broader community, extending beyond dog rescues to support those in need.

Their involvement has given the caretaker peace of mind and improved the health and well-being of the cats. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “The cats are doing really well, and seeing them this way gives us relief too.”

This story is just one of many that showcase Al Mayya K9’s dedication to promoting responsible pet ownership. By sharing these stories, they hope to inspire others to consider adoption and to provide the support needed for those facing similar challenges.

Al Mayya K9’s ongoing relationship with this caretaker exemplifies their mission to create positive outcomes for animals and their caregivers, ensuring that everyone involved can thrive.
